Day 4

Today we had a very early start. We were up by 7 a.m in order to have a good breakfast and be up on the mountain by 9:15. As ever, the weather did not fail to impress. We all agreed on what a wonderful way it was to start the day. It was ideal skiing conditions. We are all in such a routine now that things have almost become automatic.

It was an unbelievable sight today to look down from the slopes and see the beginners area completely deserted! Everybody has progressed so quickly. 

It was nice to return to the hotel and have a little time to relax before lunch. In the afternoon, we went on a walk of the old village in Zinal. We got lots of little snippets of information as to what life was like in Zinal in the past. Locals are extremely friendly and always willing to stop and explain something which we are wondering at. Walking is always so much easier if there's the promise of a visit to the shop afterwards. We had lots of mental maths practice adding up the prices of treats in order to stay within our 5 franc budget. Some were very clever and pooled their resources!

After dinner this evening we learned some new card games and then it was time for the DISCO! The floor was filled from beginning to end, with a couple of bears even getting in on the act :). When it was time for bed, sleep had hit before heads even hit the pillows. 

Tomorrow we are hoping to make the most of the morning skiing and then in the afternoon visit a local farm and learn a little bit about farming practices in Zinal.
